Describe the first stage of the cardiac cycle
Ventricles are relaxed. Atria contract which decreases volume and increases pressure. Pushes blood into ventricles through AV valves, slight increase in ventricular pressure and volume as the ventricles receive ejected blood from contracting atria.

Describe the second stage of the cardiac cycle
Atria relax, ventricles contract, pressure becomes higher in ventricles which forces AV valves to prevent backflow. The high pressure in the ventricles opens the SL valves, blood if forced out of the pulmonary artery and aorta

Describe the third stage of the cardiac cycle
Ventricles and atria both relax, higher the pressure in pulmonary artery and aorta causes SV valves to close, preventing backflow. Atria fill with blood. Pressure in ventricles goes lower than Atria and AV valves open. Blood passively flows out
