A process of stages which occur during the development of a new ICT system.
1 of 20
Stage 1
Definition of the Problem: feasibility is considered, how the initial system can be improved & written by an analyst in non-technical language.
2 of 20
Stage 2
Investigation and Analysis: uses the feasibility report, uses different research methods to investigate & a requirement specification is created.
3 of 20
Stage 3
Design: methods and formats of data capture, input, output, structure of data, processing and validation routines, queries and reports are all designed & project plan is developed.
4 of 20
Stage 4
Implementation: taking the design and creating the system, decision about software strategy, based on budget constraints set by client, is made. Coding, macros and queries are created with backup and data storage being considered.
5 of 20
Stage 5
Testing: tests the output from the implementation stage, two functions, and checks for any bugs or errors in the codes and whether the system meets the needs of the user requirements list.
6 of 20
Stage 6
Installation stage: four types of strategies to choose from when installing a new system; parallel, pilot, direct and phased method. Training of the employees must be completed during this stage.
7 of 20
Stage 7
Documentation stage: test plans, data and logs, user manuals, version and security details and program specifications are created and passed to the user.
8 of 20
Stage 8
Evaluation and maintenance stage: identifies if any requirements are not met on time and rectified through maintenance which is a process that ensures the system continues to meet the needs of its user.
