What is the aim of rehabilitation?

Involves offering an offender help to overcome their problems which would avoid them from re-offending, this can include social skills and things to do with employment help

This aim is to protect the public from the offender if they are a risk

What is the aim of deterrence?

Deterrence (general) is the aim for prison sentences/long/harsh sentences will deter other people from committing the crime as they do not want to receive the same thing (specific) just for the offender to not offend again
