Viktor Chernov (1873-1952)
The leader of the Socialist Revolutionaries (SRs). Elected to the second Duma, and served for Minister of Agriculture in Provisional Gov.

Alexander Kerensky (1881-1970)
Was member of the 4th Duma. Worked as a radical lawyer helping revolutionaries against the Russian state. Was Justice Minister, the Minister for War and then Head of the Provisional Gov.

Lavr Kornilov (1870-1918
Senior military leader in Russia Imperial Army, appointed commander in chief in 1917. His failed coup against the PG strengthed the Bolsheviks. Killed in fighting Bolshevik forces in Apr 1918.

Vladmir Lenin (1870-1924)
A Marxist. Leader of the Bolshevik party after they split from the Social Democratic Party in 1903.

Prince Lvov (1861-1925)
An aristocratic and politician, the first leader of the PG that replaced the Tsar in 1917. He organised relief work during Russo-Japanese War, and leader of the Zemstvos suring WW1. Also member of the Duma.

Pavel Milyukov (1859-1943)
A liberal politician, one of the founders of the League of Liberation in 1903. After 1905 revolution became leader of the Kadets. Became Foreign Minister within PG in 1917.

Grigori Rasputin (1869-1916)
Mystical Holy Man, Nicholas II believed Rasputin had the power to heal and heard the voice of God. He had a reputation for being drunk and was a womaniser. The Tsar and Tsarina believed he could heal their son (Alexi) who had hemophilia.

Joseph Stalin (1878-1953)
Born poor in Georgia. Joined the Bolsheviks in 1903 involved in revolutionary activity. Was forced into exile by the Okhrana. Member of Lenin's first Politburo and had a major role in Lenin's government. And became leader of the Soviet Union.

Pyotr Stolypin (1862-1911)
One of Tsars trusted ministers. His repression and reform helped stabilise Tsarism in 1905. Tsar lost faith in him 1910 wanted to ban Rasputin from seeing him. Assassinated in 1911.

Pyotr Struve (1870-1944)
Liberal politician, one of founder of League of Liberation in 1903. After 1905 Rev became leader of Kadets. Supported the whites during civil war.

Leon Trotsky (1879-1940)
Marx Rev. Became famous as revolutionary leader of the St. Petersburg Soviet in 1905. Joined the Bolsheviks in 1917.

Sergei Witte (1849-1915)
One of Tsar's trusted ministers and advisers. Promoted industrialisation. As Russia Prime Min made Tsar compromise with liberals in 1905. Led to Oct Manifesto.
