Where are metals found on the periodic table?
Most of the elements are metals! They cover most of the periodic table, only the ones on the far right are non-metals
1 of 8
A metals basic properties?
Strong, great conductors of heat, and conduct electricity well too.
2 of 8
Copper
A good conductor of electricity, so it's ideal for drawing out into electrical wires. It's hard and strong but can be bent. It doesn't react with water
3 of 8
Aluminium
Corrosion-resistant and has a low density. Pure aluminium isn't particularly strong but it forms hard, strong alloys
4 of 8
Titanium
Low density metal, unlike aluminium it's very strong. Also corrosion-resistant
5 of 8
Plumbing
Would need: metal that bends to make pipes and tanks & would need to be below hydrogen in reactivity series so it didn't react with water. Copper would be great
6 of 8
if you wanted to make an aeroplane...
Would need: strong metal that could be bent into shape, would also need to be light. Aluminium would be great.
7 of 8
If you were making replacement hips...
You would need: a metal that wouldn't corrode when in contact with water, light and not too bendy, titanium would be great for this.
