Describe the procedure.
They used a videotaped mock trial. The conditions were 'witness confidence 100%' and 'witness confidence 80%'. The witness appeared 100% confident that she had identified the robber correctly. In the other condition, she appeared only 80% sure.

What were the results?
They found when the witness was 100% confident there was a 67% conviction rate, in comparison to 80% confidence which had only a 67% conviction rate

What can we conclude?
Witness confidence did have an effect, however it was only slightly different. It is important to remember that someone can be 100% confident but also 100% incorrect.
On the flashcard with the results, there is a typo, when witness confidence was 80% there was a 60% conviction rate, whereas 100% confidence there was a 67% conviction rate. Apologies for any inconvenience.
