What do we mean by 'work' in science?
Work is done on an object when a force makes the object move.
1 of 5
What is the relationship between work and energy?
Energy transferred = Work done
2 of 5
How do we calculate the work done by a force?
Work done (Joules) = force (newtons) x distance moved in the direction of the force (metres).
3 of 5
What are the units for work done, the units for newtons and the units for distance.
Work done: J. Force: N. Distance: m.
4 of 5
What happens to the work done to overcome friction?
Work done to overcome friction is transferred as energy that heats the objects that rub together and the surroundings.
