Could be inherited, abnormal structures in brain at birth.

Structure and function could effect mental disorders ie levels of hormones such as dopamine, serotonin

Developed from Freuds work, unresolved conflicts ie anally retentive =OCD

Behaviour is reinforced by consequences and our cognition and perception of the world

Diathesis= predispostion. Disorders arise from interaction between diathesis and stress. No diathesis no disorder.
