Spartacist uprising in Berlin. First elections held, won by the SPD. Government moves to Weimar because of the violence, hence why the government is called the Weimar Republic.

Treaty Of Versailles signed by Germany and the Allies

Kapp Putsch launched by Freikorps in Berlin

Germany signs the Treaty Of Rapallo with the Soviet Union

French invade and occupy the Ruhr in order to claim reparations that Germany has failed to pay. The government soon calls for passive resistance from the workers

September 1923
New Chancellor Gustav Stresemann calls off passive resistance in the Ruhr. He also introduces the Rentenmark to replace the mark and reduce hyperinflation. France leaves the Ruhr in April 1924
