Wal-Mart is a TNC. It is a retail TNC and first opened in Arkansas in the USA. Sam Walton was the founder. Wal-Mart has chains across the world, it has ASDA in the UK, Seiyu in Japan and Bompreco in Brazil.

In the USA, Wal-Mart gives customers all they need in one building at low cost. They've successfully introduced this in other countries, e.g. ASDA now stocks more non-food items. This hasn't been successful in all countries.

Wal-Mart as a brand as retained a local approach by buying local companies. Wal-Mart sells many products that are exactly the same all over the world. Selling the sam products globally helps to create common patterns of consumption between countries.

Factories in China - workers earn less than $1 an hour, Factories in USA- workers earn the minimum wage of around $6 an hour. Headquarters in USA- executives earn hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
