How is cytochrome-c used in classification?
If we compare the sequence of amino acids in samples of cytochrome-c from 2 different species, we can see if the species are closely related if the sequences are very similar.

How is DNA used in classification?
All organisms use DNA as their genetic code. Comparison of DNA sequences is a good way to compare species. The more similar the DNA, the more closely related the 2 species are.
