What are the factors that affect Rate of reaction?
Temperature, Pressure, Concentration, Surface Area, Catalyst
1 of 9
What is a catalyst?
A substance which increases the rate of reaction but it is not used up in the reaction.
2 of 9
How do catalysts increase the Rate of reaction?
They Provide an alternative reaction pathway (With a lower activation energy)
3 of 9
What does homogeneous catalyst mean?
A catalyst that is in the same phase as the reactants.
4 of 9
What happens when a molecule absorbs infrared radiation?
It makes the covalent bond vvibrate more in a stretching or bending motion.
5 of 9
What are the 2 peaks that must be present to identify a substance as carboxylic acid?
A Very broad peak at 2500-3300 and a sharp peak at 1680-1750.
