Where are Civil Cases heard?
County Court or High Court

By completing a N1 Form, setting out what is claimed and why

To one of three tracks: Small Claims, Fast Track or Multi Track

What did the Woolf Reforms do?
Brought in the three track system, gave judges more responsibility for managing cases, simplified documents and procedures, created a single set of rules.

What do the future proposals for reform include?
A mediation service to be available at County Court, an online court.

Appeals from the County Court include?
Appeal from a decision by a district judge is heard by a circuit judge. An appeal from a decision by a circuit judge is heard by a High Court judge.

Appeals from the High Court include?
Normally go to the Court of Appeal or a Leapfrog appeal straight to the supreme court is possible if case is likely to succeed or is of public importance.

What are the advantages of using a court?
Fair, judge is legal expert, easier to enforce decision, appeal system available, legal aid for some cases
