Tehran Conference December 1943
Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin met to discuss the continuation of the Second World War. They agreed to set up a second front in France May/June 1944 to ease pressure on the SU who were fighting Germany on the Eastern front alone.

Operation Fortitude
Normandy was chosen as the site of allied invasion to open up a Second-front. However the allies wanted to deceive the Germans.The British used a double-agent called "Garbo" who told the Germans that the allied invasion would take place in Calais.
