what are sepcialised cells?

cells that are specialised to carry out a particular function.

it must need a lot of energy, e.g muscle cells and sperm cells

it needs to create a lot of protein, e.g gland cells which produce enzymes

enables them to detect a stimuli, e.g the cone cell in the eye are light sensitive

they will be photosynthesising e.g mesophyll cells of a leaf

so that it can absorb water and mineral ions efficently.

diffusion

what is diffusion?

is the spreading out of the particles of a gas, or any substance in solution, resulting in a net movement from a region where they are of higher concentration to an area with a lower concentration.

what affects the speed of diffusion?

the greater the difference in concentration, the faster the rate of diffusion.

what are some examples of diffusion?

*oxygen into the body cells from the bloodsteam as the cells are respiring, and using up oxygen * carbon dioxide into actively photosynthesising plant cell *simple sugars and amino acids from the gut through cell membranes

because the particles move randomly
