Summarise the CNS
Made up of the brain+spinal chord. The brain receives and processes information from rest of the body. Spinal chord relays information between brain+rest of body. Spinal chord also contains nerve cells which dont need to be passed the brain(reflex)

Summarise the PNS
Transmits messages via millions of neurons, to and from the nervous system

What is the PNS sub divided into?
1. Autonomic nervous system (ANS) 2. Somatic nervous system (SNS)

What is the role of the autonomic nervous system?
Responsible for 'automatic' functions in the body such as breathing, heart rate+indigestion
8 of 13
What is the role of the somatic nervous system?
Controls muscle movement and receives info from sensory receptors

What is the sympathetic nervous system?
Body's response to short term stress
