Classification based on one or two characteristics to make identification easy

How has DNA sequencing led to changes in understanding of classification?
It has enabled scientists to become more certain of how closely related organisms are.

What does DNA sequencing involve?
It involves identifying the genes for similar characteristics. If these gene sequences are similar in both organisms then the species is related. The more sequences they have in common the more closely related they are.
