• Viruses need a host cell to reproduce as they are non-living acellular particles.
• Contain DNA or RNA as genetic material
• This is enclosed in the capsid
• Which is then further surrounded by a lipid envelope
• This has attachment proteins which is essential to allow the virus to identfy and attach to the host cell
