- Specificity- relevent and appropriate for the individual
- Progression- gradually increase over time to ensure improvements
- Overload- above the comfort zone to force adaptation
- Varience- range of exercise reduce boredom
- Moderation- appropriate for the performer to adapt while maintaing a HBL
- Reversibility- maintained so gains are not lost
- Frequency- how many sessions
- Intensity- how hard the sessions are
- Time- how long the session are
