- Extreme environment are becoming popular with tourists
- They are ideal settings for adventure holiday activities
- E.g. Jeep tours, River rafting and trekking
- People want something different and exciting to do on holiday
- People enjoy an element of risk and danger in their leisure time, which the harsh conditions of an extreme environment can provide
- Some wildlife can only be seen in these areas
- Some scenery can only been seen in extreme cases too, Like icebergs
- They are ideal settings for adventure holiday activities
- There are also several reasons why tourism is increasing in extreme environments:
- Improvement in transport has made it quicker and easier to get some of these destinations. For example, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway that links China and Tibet, an Extreme mountain environment, opened in 2006
