The Synoptic Problem and Source Criticism
· The synoptic problem is an investigation into the nature of the literary relationship between the first three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke)
· When two of the three gospels agree then it is called double tradition and if all three agree it is called a triple tradition ie 91% of Mark is found in Matthew and 53% in Luke
