Why did Russia lose the Russo-Japanese War?
- Russia went to war with Japan in 1904, however, Tsar Nicholas II underestimated the scale of the war:
- The front was 6000 miles from St, Petersburg; it tooks troops six days to reach it.
- The Trans-Siberian railway was only a single track; trains could not run yp and down it at the same time, limiting the transportation of troops.
- Ammunitions was in short supply and the logistical organisation was chaotic.
What were the consequences of the war for Russia?
