Women and Flappers

July 28th 1914, war broke out. Britain fighting hard to eradicate the evil dictating hitler. All the men left their wives, children, jobs, homes and villages to join the fight. All that were left were the women, determined to earn their respect and help any way they can. They took to the factories producing ammunition, guns and other weapons. They helped us win the war and earned their respect and proved they werent as weak and useless they were made out to be. After the war the women worked in more gruelling industrie, earning more money. When the household goods such as Vacuum hoovers, washing machines and dishwashers were produced women had more time on their hands. With the prohibition of alcohol, discovery of Jazz and blues, Increase in speakeasies and boom in cinema industries women became more reckless and had more fun. They began drinking in speakeasies, wearing trousers, having short hair and using contraception flappers were the latest addition to the 1920s. 

Immigration

Immigration was Americas biggest worry because they belived foreigners were trying to steal their money and take the American dream. "Anarchism is a political philosophy that advocates self-governed societies with voluntary institutions. These are often described as stateless societies, but several authors have defined them more specifically as institutions based on non-hierarchical free associations." Americans were scared that immigrants were evil and shouldve been controlled. The red scare was when communists believed immigrants were infiltrating society and influencing the public to revolt against society. Sacco and Vancetti were a prime example of discrimination to immigrants when two italian immigrants were wrongly convicted and executed for crimes they didnt commit. 

Prohibition

With the increasing knowlege that alcoholic bevarages are bad for our health and social behavoiur. Therefore a law was passed that drinking alcohol was illegal. Upon this new law speakeasies were invented, a place…
