The nature of religious experience: visions

A vision is something seen other than by ordinary sight, i.e. a supernatural or prophetic sight experienced whilst awake or during sleep, and especially one that conveys a revelation or message of some form

There are different types of vision

• Sensory vision: to do with sense experience; external objects, sounds or figures appear before the recipient
• Intellectual vision: brings the recepient a message of inspiration, insight or instruction; can also contain warnings
