LINE 1:
- 'i' = adds to the personal subject matter - singular / child watching - ignoring - speaker could be a child - heritage - creating a poem like the blacksmith
- 'door' 'dark' = alliteration, plosive - harsh
- 'dark' = older time period / ambiguous, ominous - almost supernatural - negative connotation / a place that is no longer necessary for modern life: for instance, we no longer depend on horses hooves or wrought- iron nails / could suggest the unreachable past as well as the blackness of the anvil and the soot of the shop
