• By 1958-1965 amount of child marraiges dropped to 2.4%
• 0.8% of marraiges arranged by parents by 1966-76
• Enforcing the law was a problem, 1950 report stated cadres were conservative and didnt want to liberate women
• Riots broke out as men tried to forceably reclaim their wives 
• Party kindergartens in communes freed women to work in labour alongside men
