Functions of the skeletal system

Movement - The bones of the skeleton acts as levers and form joints that allow muscles to produce

Support and protection - The bones of the skeleton provide support for the body and the organs.

Production of blood cells - Bones in the skeleton produce bone marrow which produces red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

Mineral storage - The bones of the skeleton hold minerals and can store calcium for other bodily functions.

Attachment of muscles - Bones of the skeleton provide surfaces for the attachment of muscles.
