Ideology is a set of ideas to keep workers in place.

Impose a false picture from the rulling class for the working class to behave.

Class conflict is the most important force in society.

Rulling Class Ideas:

Workers prosuce profit - some into wages - 'surplous value'

If workers notices this they'd revolt

Therefore Ideology promotes false class conciousness and illusion of fairness.

Marx:

Religion is the opiat of the masses

Ultimate reward/punishment gives the promise of an afterlife - hope 

Religion distorts reality to help cope…
