The narrator is sat in cottage on a stormy night and he is with his lover and he decides she loves him and that she belongs to him and he wants to preserve the moment so he strangles her with her own hair which clearly shows the speaker is mentally disturbed

Language:

Repitition - of the pronoun 'mine' is disturbing and it emphasises how he wants to own and possess her

Reference to religion - 'And yet god has not said a word!' - He believes that because god hasnt punished him he hasnt done anything wrong which suggets the narrator is mentally unstable
