The civil courts tracks and appeal routes
- Small claims track - hears claims dealing with compnesatory damages of under £5000 and personal injuries claims worth under £1000. Such cases are heard in the county court by a district judge and last approximately an hour long
- Fast track - hears cases dealing with compensatory damages of between £5000 and £25000 and personal injuries claims worth between £1000 and £50000. Such cases, are again, usally heard in the county court by a district judge, but can often be heard by a circuit judge in the high court if more serious. Cases transferred to the fast track usually last about a day long
- Multi track - cases involving over £25000 compensatory damages and over £50,000 personal injuries claims would be transferred to this track and heard by a circuit judge in the high court. Such cases would last about a week long
