Cardiovascular system

Artherosclerosis: build up of fatty deposits that form a hard plaque on the arterial walls, narrows the lumen, reduces the space for blood flow, blod clots form, reduces the ability for them to vasodilate and vasoconstrict.hypertension can develop.

Coronary heart disease: results from artherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, reduction in blood flow and oxygen limits the heart to respire which leads to a heart attack. 

Heart attack: blockage of the coronary artery cutting off the oxygenated blood flow to an area of cardiac muscle. usually from a piece of fatty plaque breaking away from an arterial wall which causes a blood clot to form. 

Stroke: caused by a blockage in a cerebral artery which cuts of the oxygen supply to the brain.

Effects of training on the cardio system:

  • Reduce levels of blood lipids and overall cholesterol levels. increases proportion of HDL and LDL

The first bullet point on effects of training on the cardio system is incorrect. it should say increases proportion of HDL and decrease proportion of LDL
