Natural hazard - A natural event of process that doesn't affect people.

Natural disaster - When the hazard has social impacts such as death, injury, economic damage e.g damage to property and any infastructure.

 An natural event has to involve people e.g death, injuries, economic damage and mainly just desruption to people's lives, to be classed as a natural diasaster. If a natural event occurs in an un-inhabited location and affects no people then this is classed as a natural hazard.
