HALF-LIFE in radioactivity

?

Half-Life

HALF-LIFE- the average time taken for HALF of the radioactive nuclei to decay

(basically for the count rate to reach half its value eg from 24 to 12)

- the ACTIVITY of a radioactive isotope is the number of atoms that decay per second.

the half-life of a rdaioactive isotope is the average time it takes:

  • for the number of neuclei in the isotope in a sample to halve
  • for the count rate of the isotope in a sample to fall its half

Thanks Zara..

Was always a bit confused about half-lives but not now! Cheers...
