Doctor Faustus' identity.

A few Ideas about the theme of personal identity in Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus.

• In the Prologue it is explained that Faustus was born to 'parents base of stock.' However he was 'graced with doctor's name.' Faustus has been fortunate enough to move up the social hierarchy. This may account for his insecurities- his constant need to learn and master every art.
