Economic Reform of 1780
- 1780, plan limited patronage of monarch
- Stopped king handing out positions
- Stopped ceremonial positions
- However King still allowed some patronage after 1800
- Also still very rich, could use money to support MPs
Decline in power over Commons
- Bedchamber Crisis of 1849, Victoria had to accept tory ladies in waiting
- Reform acts of 1832, 1867, 1884, 1918 and 1928 all extended electorate
- Decline in rotten boroughs after reform act of 1832
