Natural Recycling Procees;
Elements cycle between the living and non living world
How does the decay process take place?
Decomposers - bacteria and fungi, chemically break down dead material rleasing ammoinium compounds into the soil
Detrivores - Earthworms, maggots, mllipedes, woodlie, eat small parts of the dead material which they digest and release as waste
Conditions for decay to take place faster:
- Temperature - as temperature gets warmer decay will increase. Respiration in decomposers is faster so they grow and multiply quicker
- Oxygen - the more oxygen the faster the decay - as with temperature this links to respiration
- Water - decay is a lot faster in moist conditions…
