Computers can be divided into External Components and Internal Hardware.
Computer Consist of 3 main items
- CPU
- Main Memory
- Input and Output
This is called Neumann Architecture
Processor
This Is responsible for executing and supervising the functions of the other parts of the system.
Main Memory aka Immediate Access Store(IAS)
It can be divided into 2
RAM and ROM
Simplest part of the computer
This is where all the data is stored and this data is stored onto a byte which can be referred to as a memory location.
RAM
Random Access Memory
Data Stored on this memory is Volatile which means that any data stored on this section of the memory is wiped when the power is switched off
ROM
Read Only Memory
Data Stored on this Section does the opposite to what RAM does it stores the data and does not wipe it
Another Type of memory is
EEPROM
Electrically Erasable Programmable Read only Memory
It does not allow the content to be altered
