What is a compound?

- A compound is where 2 elements are chemically combined

Describe the plum pudding.

- A ball of positive charge with negative negative charge embedded in it.

Describe the Bohr/nuclear model and how it came.

- the nuclear model suggests that electrons orbit the nucleus at specific distances (shells) - it came about from the alpha scattering experiments.

Who founded the neutrons of an atom?

- James Chadwick

What is the structure of an atom?

- The atom is made up of a nuceus which consists of protons and neutrons, and      around the nucleus is shells which consist of electrons.

What is the radius of an atom?

- 0.1nm

What is the Atomic number?

- given number of protons in the nucleus (also the electrons)

Atoms of the same element have the same number of which particle in the nucleus?

- Protons

Where is the majority of mass in an atom?

- The Nucleus

What is the mass number?

- totoal number of protons and neutrons

What is an Isotope?

Atoms of the same element ( same protons) that have a different number of neutrons.

What is the relative atomic mass?

- The average mass value which takes the mass and abundance of isotopes of an element into account, on a scale where the mass of 12 C is 12.
