The Early Atmosphere
Scientists think that the evolution of life caused the Earth's atmosphere to change. They study planets and moons without, so that they can get the idea of what the Earth's atmosphere may have been like. They are particulary interested in volcanoes, as they release large quantaties of gases. Today on Earth, volcanoes mainly release Carbon Dioxide and Water Vapour as well as small amounts of Ammonia, Methane and Nitrogen.
