Mass Number

Almost all of the mass of an atom is found in the nucleus, because the mass of the electrons is so small. We call the total number of Protons and Neutrons in an atom its Mass Number. We can work out the number of Electrons in the Nucleus of an atom by subtracting the Atomic Number from the Mass Number:
