  • Employees and elpoyers in a catering business have certain rules to obide by to keep customers and staff safe and healthy.

Health and safety work act:

  • The health and safety work at work act (HASAWA) is a law to keep people safe and healthy.
  • It protects people in a catering industry.
  • Within the law it gives employers rules that they must follow and obide by.
  • For example: The workspace is safe, well lit and not too hot or cold.
  • Staff and employees are properly trained.
  • All equipment must be safe to use.
  • There is an appropiate fire policy.
  • First aid is available.
  • Staff are also required to look after themselves and not put others at risk.

Health and safety signs:

  • Health and safety signs instruct workers on what to do and what not to do.
  • Signs prevent people and themselves from injury.
