Blood Brothers (abridged) Plot Summary

Act 1

Scene 1

• Mrs Johnston sings song about her husband
• husband got her pregnant
• they had to get married
• she got pregnant again
• husband left her

Scene 2

• milkman stops the milk
• Mrs Johnston is starting a new job

Scene 3

• Mrs Lyons tells Mrs Johnston that she can't have children
• Mrs Lyons finds out that Mrs Johnston is superstitious

Scene 4

• Mrs Jonhston finds out she is having twins

Scene 5

• Mrs Lyons finds out Mrs Johnston is having twins
• Mrs Johnston can't afford to keep both
• Mrs lyons persuades Mrs Johnston to give one to her
• they swear on the bible

Scene 6

• Mrs Lyons takes one of the babies
• gives Mrs Johnston the rest of the week off on full pay

Scene 7

• Mrs Johnston tells her children that the other baby went to live with an Aunt in America

Scene 8

• Mrs Johnston is sacked
• Mrs Lyons makes up a superstition
• if Mrs Johnston tells anyone, the twins will die

Act 2

Scene 1

• mickey plays a childish pretending game with sammy and others
• seven years old
• he gets told off for playing by the big houses
• i wish i was our sammy monologue

scene 2

• mickey meets eddie
• they become blood brothers
• mickey is told off for playing with eddie

scene 3

• eddie learns a superstition from Mrs Johnston- 'the bogeyman will get you'
• Mickey asks if Eddie can come out to play
• Mrs Lyons finds out they are 'blood brothers'
• Mrs Lyons dismisses Mickey from the house
• Mrs Lyons shouts at Eddie for playing with him
• Eddie swears at Mrs Lyons- using a word he learned from Mickey

scene 4

• Eddie sneaks out to play with Mickey and linda
• eager to impress eddie, Mickey and Linda say a few lies about what they say to policemen

scene 5

• Mrs lyons calls her husband
• she asks him to leave the office
• she asks to move
• she is 'frightened for Edward'

scene 6

• Mickey, Eddie and Linda play with Sammy's air gun
• both the boys miss
• Linda gets a hit everytime
• Mickey says they are not playing with the gun anymore- could be because he can't impress eddie with it, or because he's embarrased that he can't…
