Background to Parliament 

• First Parliament met in 1256
• Kings royal council eventually evolved into house of lords, 800 members 
• Commons has all the power in parliament 
• First election was in 1832, under the great reform act
• Commons was made the most powerfuly body in Parliament in the 20th and 19th century
• All members of the government must also be an MP or a Lord 
• The executive and Legisiture are fused in the UK
• Government is always accountable to parliament 
• Parliamentry Sovreignty, Parliament holds all power in the UK
