Alienation in Volume 2 Chapter 7 - ‘Frankenstein’
· “Like Adam, I was apparently united by no other link to any other being in existence;”
˃ When the creature finds Milton’s Paradise Lost he first relates to Adam by their shared isolation and solidarity of being and creation.
· “I was wretched, helpless, and alone… when I viewed the bliss of my protectors the bitter gall of envy rose within me.”
˃ Unlike Adam, the creature is unloved by his creator, so feels more connected to Satan who is jealous and alone.

˃ The creature blames Victor for creating him so malformed that he was bound to be alienated by man
