Abortion

Definition of abortion- The deliberate ending of life after fertilisation of the human ovum and before birth.

Today abortion is common for a number of reasons:

• Sex is seen as being more for pleasure than procreation

• Women have a greater social and legal status

• Low child morality has reduced the need for so many children

• Foetal abnormalities can be detected so may want to abort that child

• Less children dying today compared to back in the victorian times

• Abortion act became legal under the Abortion act 1967

• Too many children e.g. China laws

• Financial problems cannot afford to raise a child

In order to be granted an abortion you must meet certain criterias:
