It was set up by the government and is answerable to Parliament through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
They will invest over £1 billion of National Lottery funding between 2012 and 2017 in various organisations eg:
- up to 46 NGBs received £120 million
- children and young people through NGBs received £28 million
- open funding makes money available for a variety of things like protecting playing fields
- mixed funding is based around the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics with £30 million available
