Dharavi

Dharavi is in Mumbai in the far west of India. The shanty town is the biggest in Asia and maybe the world. It it 1 mile squared and has over 1,000,000 people living there. There is a river that runs through the shanty town but it is also connected to the sewage works. The roads in Dharavi are very narrow and there are no toilets so people use the streets. It is widely over crowded and every two bedded house has about 6 people living in it. Everybody that lives there is poor and they cannot afford to leave. Some lucky people run businesses for electronics, furniture etc.
