SPEC:
- A knowledge of the formal and informal sources of presidential power and of the relationships between the presidency and other institutions
- An awareness of the factors that affect the role of the presidency and an ability to evaluate the capcity to provide leaderhip of the presidency and of recent presidents
SCHOOL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
- Knowledge of formal and informal powers of the President
- Relationship between different Presidential styles
- Knowledge of the "Dual Presidency" = tension between domestic and foreign responsibilities
- Knowledge of the Imperial/Imperilled debate - how this has developed and changed with time
- Detailed knowledge of Obama and Bush's presidency
- Knowledge of the role and powers of: the Vice President, EXOP, the Cabinet and the Federal Bureaucracy
- Knowledge of the "spoils system"
