Ambition in Macbeth

Ambition 

Characters related to ambition: Macbeth, Lady Macbeth and Banquo 

“You greet with present grace and great prediction 
Of noble having and of royal hope…”  (Banquo)  

(Banquo wants a prophecy like Macbeth)

“If you can look into the seeds of time, 
And say which grain will grow and which will not…” (Banquo) 

(Banquo feels it's unfair that Macbeth's future has been told)

"My thought, whose murder yet is but fantastical..." (Macbeth)

(Ambitious murderous thoughts.)

“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be 
What thou art promised.”

(Lady Macbeth has higher ambitious thoughts for her husband) 

“Vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself 
And falls on the other…” (Macbeth)

(Mcbeth knows there is a good reason to kill Duncan)

“Thriftless ambition, that will ravin up 
Thine own lives' means!” (Ross)

(Ross think ambition of men led to Duncan's death)
