Protecting the area would have cost up to £14m. The finacail cost seemed to outweighed the benfits so it was decided the area would undergo 'manged retreat'.

This strategy wasnt popular with the loacl residents complianing about a loss of farmland and SSSI

Retail Diversity; Mainly independant food stores, cafes and hotel with only one or two local shops.

Placecheck; Positives included it had a good community spirit aswell as clean footpaths with no vandalism at all. Negatives it had lots of traffic with poor public service facilities and unstable footpaths.

EQA: scored a totla of 7/40

Non-Participant Observation: Mainly only saw dog walker around town but that could be due to the bad weather we experienced whilst our visit. Maily the population looked about middle aged or elderly.
